Post Baltimore?

Hey, need some tips from all of you fellow daters. Any ideas of what to do in Baltimore? I am clueless about the area. I am sure exactly how but someone I offered to plan the date. Any ideas would be super helpful. I have a great aunt there so she will be my next call. Thanks and hope to hear back soon!! And if you need help with places to go in Brooklyn, unfortunately I am the one to talk to because I know all the hot dating spots out there..and even the not so hot ones..lol!

Great! Check this out:
http://www.shidduchim.info/ideas.html
I was actually in a similar situation recently and I found this website. I looked through it but then I called my cousins there and they crossed off most ideas from my list. The truth is that there is nothing like a local, but then again it's awkward to call a friend from sem or a far fetched relative for such info..and that is why we have inshidduchim!!!! Hurray, and thank you!!!! Anyway, if any Baltimorians can help us out that would be great. But in the meantime you should look over what I sent you and then google the place for more info..and last but not least..Good luck and I hope the date goes well..you'll be in my thoughts!

What number date are you referring to? I'm assuming you are probably up to at least a third date if you suggested organizing the date. If you want to stay in Baltimore proper, there is the Aquarium, Science Center, Ripley's Believe it or Not (Opened Recently)? Just note that the above-mentioned places are a little pricey. You can do Amazing Glaze, Botanical Gardens, Dave N' Busters, Walters Art Gallery or the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There's always DC too where you can go to one of the Museums (Smithsonian, Spy Museum...) and there are some Kosher restaurants around there or in Silver Spring).

We don't have very many nice restaurants. I would suggest picking up food because the community is very small and you will see a lot of frum people in any restaurant unless you don't care. There is Cocoaccinos (http://www.cocoaccinos.com/) which is in closest proximity to Amazing Glaze and is probably the nicest milchig restaurant around. There is Goldbergs Bagels (goldbergsbagels.net) or you can stick with pizza from Tov Pizza (tovpizza.com) or Mama Leah's (www.mamaleahspizza.com/). Their names should be self-explanatory. 🙂 As for fleishig, there is a nice place Accents which is next door to Cocoaccinos (www.accentsgrill.com/) and we also have a Dougie's now (www.dougiesmd.com/). If you are in the mood for Chinese, we have Umami's (www.kosherumamibistro.com/) and David Chus (couldn't find a website but google the name and you'll see a google page and/or facebook). I'm not sure what time you are planning to go out to eat but check the times because some of the restaurants close early. Please let me know if I can be of any more service!

You are very welcome. And yes, you used the correct word. They call us Baltimoreans. 😀 I don't really have too many outdoor ideas. Remember, it may be quite cold... There is a Botanical Gardens but I've never been there. I think it's called Sherwood Gardens. There is also the Cylburn Arboretum but it's not that exciting in my humble opinion and it's small. You can always walk around the Inner Harbor. It's really nice. There is a Barnes and Noble there. There is an interesting mall along the harbor with "touristy" stores. There is also a very nice normal mall nearby as well that you can walk around called the Gallery which is attached to a hotel called the Renaissance. There is a Starbucks Kiosk where you can buy drinks. I know someone posted a thread about games but you can bring a game or two and find somewhere to play it whether in one of the hotels or the eating area of either mall. There is outdoor seating in a non-kosher restaurant in the touristy mall along the harbor. There are some Starbucks in the area too that you can go to. Btw, the Science Center, Aquarium and Ripleys are all along the harbor too but they all have expensive admissions.

There is also a kosher restaurant downtown near the Inner Harbor that is called Van Gaugh Cafe. It is a very small cozy place where they serve things like sandwiches, danishes and ice cream.

All the ideas mentioned above are great for Baltimore. DC is within driving distance, with so many free museums!! There is a semi-nice kosher restaurant in DC called Eli's. It's fleshing - great food. There are a number of casual restaurants in Silver Spring (very close to DC), nothing fancy though. There's a lot to see and do in DC. And Baltimore's inner harbor is a hot spot.

The best date atmosphere kosher restaurant in Baltimore is Umami, hands down, and the food is amazing. They even have a "Revolution Diet" section on the menu for super healthy food served to you in your own bamboo steamer.

Downtown, there are tons of museums. The best is the Science Center; the worst is the American Visionary Art Museum. Anything else depends on your taste.

Also downtown, you can see an Orioles game if you and the guy are into that. I think it's a fun date even if you don't care about sports.

The Inner Harbor has duck boats you can take, and there's a kosher Rita's ice cream there (terrible service, but whatever).

Reisterstown Road has a bowling alley. I love bowling on a date because it's active. They also have pool, air hockey, and arcade games.

The zoo and the aquarium are classic date spots; I don't like them, but others do.

If you've had a few dates already, take him to the Wellwood playground! I like to see if a guy can relax and be a kid. Climb up and go down the slide, or just sit on the swings and talk. It's a remarkably calming and chilled-out atmosphere.

In the summer, you can go to the Maryland State Fair. I was once at the state fair and I ran into my friend's sister on a first date. I thought they looked like they were having a good time, and I guess they were-- they are now married with three kids!

I also recommend walking around the Quarry. It's got gorgeous scenery and nice walking paths, plus nearby there's a Starbucks and a Coldstone Creamery.
