Hold on, you are asking when he should stop wearing a tie?

Worry about what you should wear, not what he should wear.

C'mon people! Don't be so shallow. I agree with feigy123, don't worry about what he 'should' wear. It's also very different for different types. Some couples dress in Shabbos clothes the entire time they're dating. Some dress casual after date 5 or 6, some after date 2 or 3. If you have a legit concern about what he's wearing then ask someone who knows you and whom you trust. Is it valuable to ask if it's normal if a guy doesn't wear a hat after a first date, or even for a first date? I mean, it definitely says something about him, what though depends on what background he's from and what it means to you depends on what background you're from.

I happen to not to mind a guy not wearing a tie, I actually feel more comfortable in more casual clothes vs.Shabbos clothes. feigy123: you're absolutely right, unless his clothes are dirty or rumpled, I don't think what he's wearing should make much of a difference.

Frumgal, unless you're looking for a yeshivish guy and the guy shows up wearing jeans.

guyz ur kind of right but kind of wrong i think. it depends what circles you come from and what's considered normal in those circles. if it's the accepted thing in your circles (and his) to wear a tie, his b'davka not wearing a tie says something. you are both trying to put your best foot forward, so if he is not wearing something that is acceptable in your circles, it shows he is a little careless about how he presents himself. But make sure you know a reason first- cuz if his tie got ripped on the way and that didn't look respectful, then that's not a reason to say no.
