Post Help Please

Out in the world there are so many different books on dating.Which one to read? Which one not to read? Who is right? Who says what is right? That book doesn't talk to me. Can you suggest another one? More Practical? How can I know what to be thinking? Am I allowed to read secular books about dating, relationships and marriage? Help! Can't wait to see what my fellow singles suggest!

Hi there..what a great column! I actually read a ;book a little bit ago by Rosie Einhorn and Sherry Zimmeman. I found the book to be really helpful! In the back of the book it helped guide me into making a list of traits that I find I must have in my Bashert. When I have that unsure feeling while dating I pull out that list and clarity surrounds me. I feel confident in my list of "must haves" because I sat down and carefully chose those traits myself. Anyway, what I am trying to say is that it is kind of a self-help shidduchim book that may really help guide you..So go and check it out because you won't regret it:) Good Luck dear friends..

Will it be an eye opener and helpful, or just another one of those so called dating book?
Sorry to sound so negative, just one of those days!

I am iY"H beginning the process of Shidduchim soon. Before I begin I would like to read Hashkafically solid material by leading Rabbonim. Can anyone reccomend any good books or a website with Articles?

One more thing:
The real most important thing while dating is to have a good ongoing relationship with a mentor, family rav/rebbetzin, High School Teacher, Sem teacher or the like. This kind of relationship is essential.

Has anyone ever tried SawYouAtSinai?does anyone know anyone personally who has?apparently they protect everyone cuz no one sees anyone's profile unless a match is being set up.

This is not a book, but its a shiur by Rabbi Dovid Orlofsky on dating and marriage. Definitely worth listening to.

Bayla: I am on Sawyouatsinai, I think it is truly the best matchmaking site online... it can get depressing because your profile is constantly being sent to guys and you see the numbers go down as they reject you- but it is definitely the safest because only the shadchanim on the site can see your profile and only a boy who the shadchan thinks is appropriate for you can then see it and then you can see his profile once he says yes... ive tried frumster and the other sites but they are generally sketchy with guys looking to hook up more than get married.

Thanks Shono! Are you sure it is for me if I am looking for a learning only type of guy. Of course you never know but I always thought it attracted a different type of crowd. Do you really see the numbers of guys who see your resume? Why do they do it like that?? As if it is not difficult for us already..I know it's a site for us and all. I do hear that frumster has high success rates which does tempt me. Do any of these websites ask girls to post pictures of themselves? And why are the guys saying no to you? If it's not what their looking for why is the shadchan sending them your resume in the first place? Also, does it cost..and how much? I'll think about it and thanks for the info!

The Committed Marriage by Rebbetzin Jungreis is, at least for me, very different than all of the other books out there and very eye-opening.
